i thought last week was our last blog week... argh. my softball intramural team plays in the semis today... hopefully we have enough ppl to play. haha. of course my e-folio screws up. busy saturday for me comin up.

last blog

woooo. i want my own pocket pilot... yea right, no. idk, it would be sweet and quicker to keep attendence for when you're a teacher. but it's nothin that an iphone can't already do and whatnot. all this technology is crazy. im broke, so i cant afford one until im a teacher anyway. it's funny how we have to buy all this stuff to be participating in class, lol. the college always thinks of new ways to take our money. at least they're putting it to good use right? taking away the D-1 wrestling program is prolly the only bad thing slippery rock has done that i know of. :p

i heard a lot of people talkin in class saying their portfolio and stuff wasn't done. well i don't think mine was completely done either. although i think the problem was, is that the directions we got were a little off. at least i thought so, i'm better at hands on work, seeing the real finished product and then actually putting it together. it's not copying it, if some people see it that way, it's just hard to do something from scratch and then go into the wrong direction. You don't learn anything that way. I think i did alright... probably got a 40/50 :P

no class

time to get the e-folio finished. i havin trouble gettin everything transferred properly, but eventually ill get it right. i have my first 152 field experience tomorrow, have to get up at 5:30 am. woo

i still have another year at SRU and i enjoy it here. but ppl say if you get your masters at a different school, it looks better... but idk, SRU has had a good rep and goin to another school would almost be a step down. maybe i can get into penn state or somewhere sweet and not some lame garbage school. a degree is a degree but still, i feel like garbage when i get out of class and i didnt learn anything. i doubt my 3.0 will get me into psu, lol.

closing in

only a month to go. almost every teacher waitin til the end to assign everything. just turned 22 yesterday. yankees are 1-1. that's about it.

naspe talk

on my naspe talk. i simply responded to a couple people, and the guy sent them back and said my post was too common. it didn't make any sense to me because i was the first response to a question. I thought I could have helped out this person if my message got through and it wasn't allowed. some of these people are cracked out.

pe talk

there was some people at the special ed building last night and i thought it was a good experience listening to them. it's funny because they agree that not all classes get to the point. we should have more hands on classes, and classes that talk about dealing with discipline. they said they didnt have many discipline-like classes when they were in school. i know that teachers think we should do all of this paper work, but doing actual projects that involves physical movement and then putting onto a paper would be a heck of a lot better than stressing yourself over books... maybe it'll happen someday.

crunch time

just handed in my crummy video. i always like to do things quick and to the point because i feel that younger students like to get things done as quick as possible. of course you have to explain everything properly, but students want things done fast, simple and right. most of the teaching nowadays is fast, long, difficult and doesnt make sense at all, but in their eyes it's right. i made a business folio in high school, hopefully i can just scan some of it into my class folio. it'd save me a ton of time...

yankees-sox

yankees beat the sox in spring training yesterday, woo hoo. o well it's only spring training. people think the yankees are going to be down this year, and a majority of those people think that because they hate the yankees. even though their staff is young and slightly inexperienced, last years staff was WORSE. besides the fact they were clearly the best team in MLB for the 2nd half of the season. terrible the first half, lol. their staff should do better being stable this year, that offense should pack a mighty punch. sox would be unstable if they lost beckett. yankees lose a guy and reload, sox lose a guy, (ramirez for two months last year) and barely made the playoffs. they won the world series cause ramirez came back just in time. psh

back to school

break was good. only 6 weeks left of school. teachers cramming their lesson plans for the whole 2ns semester. geeez... i had a busy break, did a little homework, got some help in math. i helped coach with my high school back home for the two weeks and really enjoyed it. fredonia won the state title in 2006 for class B. in pennsylvania classes, that's the same as a double A, almost triple A. our highest class is double A, then a, b, c, d. it's slightly different.

spring break

woooooooooooo. finally. ill be spending my break doing some work because teachers decide to assign projects over break. these teachers never went through in college. if they did, they probably had no lives and were hermits. grrr. im spending my break helpin out coach a high school team. bill hit me on some passes yesterday for the endzone. bout time.

myron cope

i havent been a steelers fan for long, but i do know the legacy of long-time pittsburgh steeler announcer myron cope. great guy beloved by pittsburgh. they mentioned it on espn. when i first found out, i saluted with my terrible towel. my roommates loved it.

baseball!

i guess there was a spring training game yesterday, they sowed very little on sports center. my yankees are playing the university of south florida this weekend as their first spring training game. one of these years im going to make it down to tampa. hopefully within the next few before i get a coaching job. go yanks

shaq-sru bball

shaquille o'neal makes his debut tomorrow (2/19/08) with the phoenix suns. ive always been a big fan of shaq since his rookie days. he's got an attitude you just either love or hate and nothin in the middle. ive always liked him. he's a fun player to watch and i look foward to seein him on tv tomorrow. im not goin to the SRU-IUP game. there's too much talent on our basketball teams to be losing so badly. we need new strategy. no offense to the bball students in our class, actually it's a compliment, there's some good talent out there, but losing waaay too much for the talent that we have. there'll be better days.

no class

woo no class tomorrow. idk what else to say... who the steelers gonna draft this year? could use another guy on defense. there's a ton of guys available on defense in he draft this year. i reommend they take a look at dan connor from penn state. awesome guy right there.

valentine's day

even though i have a girlfriend. i still don't like valentine's day. it's cold, people are sad, i need to move south. if anyone reads this and you're broke with no cash, what's the best gift to get?

baseball

baseball is coming soon and i'm psyched. i did try out for the baseball team in the fall and i didn't make it... im not mad because i accept the fact that coach messer is running one of the best D2 teams in the country, i only wish i got the opportunity to face that high of competition. i didn't have much help with recruiting, in fact, i recruited myself and talk to the coaches myself, and it doesnt help when your old coach contacts teams that only take kids with grades 3.7 and higher, haha. im not kidding. i could of went to clarion, but i thought the risk was worth it. o well, i still have summer ball starting at the end of may. i'll live. go yankees

college bball

it's the only thing goin on around this time of year. UNC-Duke tonight. GO UNC. i've always like Coach K, but the players he's had, have always acted like girls. i wish he'd slam em in practice, tell them to stop crying.

nothin

i have no idea what to post. this is the most boring time of year because there's no other sports goin on. i can't watch the sabres and basketball is boring at times, when march madness comes around, it'll be a lot better. the yankees will have spring training starting soon. i'm tired.

power outage

so how bout the tree on main street today. i was w/o power for 12 hours today. had class, and then i slept til the power came on. johan santana got traded to the mets. they gave up worse players than the yanks and red sux had to offer. o well, i didnt care for him anyway, honestly. i like melky and hughes. i dont know if the younger guys will end up as good as santana, but the chemistry is better. i more of a chemistry guy than a pure talent person, if people understand sports like that...

post 2: confused

teachers try and make everything so confusing. all you have to do is present a visual, tell us what we're suppose to do, and then we'll go and do it. teachers get paid good money, why are 80% so awful at their job? im just havin a rough day today. this class seems simple enough, this isn't the one im having a problem in. ha. barry bonds stinks, can we send him to jail? that's all i have to say.

1st Blog/My name

I'm Jonathan McCune and i'm from Fredonia, New York. Fredonia is an hour south of Buffalo and two hours from Slippery Rock. I'm a big New York Yankees fan, so everyone can hate me now. Anyway, i should explain the origin of my nickname, Joner. I've been called Joner (Jon-err) since I was like 3 years old when a neighborhood friend had a speech problem, and had problems pronouncing Jonathan. My family hated the nickname Jon and told him never to call me Jon, so when he tried calling me Jonathan, it came out as Joner-fit. So Joner became my nickname, and everyone i grew up with has called me that nickname, even the local newspapers! I love my nickname, but as of late, people can barely understand my nickname, so i've been called johnny a lot around campus. i'm a junior, i just want to graduate and start coaching baseball. Make a lot of money. Pretty simple life. I'll post pictures sometime.
